I recorded this brief video clip last year while Tammy and I were visiting Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City. We sat for quite some time, just watching the water flow down these steps at the garden’s reflecting pool. I found it incredibly soothing then, and happened across it again this week while cleaning out my phone.
In this time of darkness and anxiety, it’s taken on new meaning for me, in its peace and tranquility — which we so deeply need right now. I hope it will bring some peace to you as well.
“All Day I Hear the Noise of Waters” by James Joyce
All day I hear the noise of waters
Making moan,
Sad as the sea-bird is when, going
Forth alone,
He hears the winds cry to the water’s
Monotone.
The grey winds, the cold winds are blowing
Where I go.
I hear the noise of many waters
Far below.
All day, all night, I hear them flowing
To and fro.
The water seems to not flow, but jump from one step to the next.
